Duplex ion-plasma surface engineering combines a modified diffusion layer with a functional coating.

Engineering problem

A thin hard coating can reduce friction or wear, but it can fail if the substrate does not provide sufficient load support. Duplex treatment addresses the surface as a system.

Duplex architecture

substrate → plasma-nitrided diffusion layer → transition/support zone → functional ion-plasma coating → tribological interface

Application approach

The route is especially readable for high-precision gears, gearbox separators, titanium alloys, friction units and precision mechanical components.
